cartier-santos-octagon-lady
Cartier Santos Octagon Lady

Some watches reach us through auctions and dealers. This one came out of a safe deposit box.

The Santos Octagon belongs to the years when Cartier reworked the Santos through a more geometric lens. It keeps the codes that define the family, with exposed screws, an integrated bracelet and a balance between sport and elegance, and adds a sharply cut octagonal bezel that gives the case a more architectural character.

This ref. 0906, an automatic in 18k yellow gold from the 1980s, comes directly from its first owner: a Milanese lady who wore it only on a handful of occasions before placing it in her bank vault, where it stayed for more than thirty years. We are genuinely pleased to bring it back to light.

The years away from the wrist are visible in the best possible way. The case is unpolished, and the octagonal bezel keeps crisp edges and well-defined facets that are rarely found intact on these models. The white dial is clean and bright, with black Roman numerals, a chemin de fer minute track, the ‘Swiss’ only signature at six and the discreet Cartier secret signature within the VII. Blued hands and the sapphire cabochon set in the faceted crown complete the picture.

It is fitted with its 18k gold bracelet with 18 links, which has developed a beautiful patina over the decades, a natural trace of time that suits a piece left untouched for so long.

The watch is accompanied by its original Cartier box, and it has been recently serviced and runs perfectly.

One owner, three decades behind a vault door, and now ready to be worn again.
